Irene Margaret Sanders

Irene Margaret Sanders passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Modesto. Irene was born in Modesto, grew up in Hughson and graduated from Hughson High School. After high school she married Art Sanders on February 14, 1944 and they were together until he passed away in 1991. She enjoyed taking care of her family. She and Art enjoyed many activities over the years, some of which included camping, horse riding, square dancing, family get togethers and extensive traveling. She is survived by her children, Steve (Linda) Sanders, Bruce (Kathy) Sanders and Brian (Carrie) Sanders, all of Modesto, along with 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Lucille Sanders of Modesto, Josephine Hayes of Modesto and Hazel Silva of Oakdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Sanders; two brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be Thursday, April 4th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Friday, April 5th at 10:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 S. Santa Fe Ave., Hughson with burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.
