Guadalupe Perez Martinez

Guadalupe, or as some of you may have known her, Hermana Lupita Martinez was a beautiful gentle spirit who was pure and righteous. She was a woman who was unyieldingly stubborn yet unfailingly generous and selfless. Guadalupe Martinez was a strong, unbreakable woman who had a heart that was full of love and overflowed onto all of us. Over the years, and in particular, the last couple of months she still was someone who beard her illness and pain with strength, patience, and dignity. She truly fought the fight to the very end.

Guadalupe Perez Martinez was naturally a friendly and happy person. She had 1 sister, 3 brothers, and she was the first born to Gilbert Garza Perez and Cruz Cortez Perez on December 25, 1934.

In 1948 she married Lupe Martinez and throughout the years they were blessed with 12 children: Lupe, Big Gilbert, Tommy, Alfred, Paul, Helen, Jobey, Henry, Cruz, Gilbert, Raymond, and Esther. Even at a young age she was an excellent mother figure to all who crossed her path. Guadalupe Martinez had a love that was unconditional and forgiving, she was far more precious than jewels and not only did she have a passion for her children, but also for serving the Lord. In January of 1955 Guadalupe accepted him into her life and was baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ.

In 1969 she became a widow, she experienced many challenges and had to overcome a significant amount of hardship, but she faced them all with fearlessness and incredible determination. Guadalupe Martinez dressed herself with strength and made her arms strong. She was an extremely hard worker who held many jobs from picking cotton, working the fruit and vegetable fields, to becoming a cannery worker.

Hermana Lupita Martinez was a selfless woman who lived her entire life putting others first. A woman who was an inspiration and the backbone for her family. In the early 1970’s she moved her family from Watsonville, Ca. to the City of Modesto and it is here where she raised her children and became a devoted member of El Sinai Apostolic Church (Apostolic Jubilee Center).

Many woman have done excellently, but she has surpassed them all. Hermana Lupita Martinez was a spiritual woman who performed every task with compassion and received many certificates of acknowledgment for all her faithful services and contributions throughout the years.

Hermana Lupita Martinez was a daughter, sister, mother, grandma, great and great great grandma who had a genuine smile, contagious laugh, and sparkling green eyes. She was truly special and we are all blessed to have had her in our lives. She will remain in our hearts forever and will always be missed.

A visitation for Guadalupe will be held Friday, May 5, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home - Riverside Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326. A funeral service will occur Friday, May 5, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326. A graveside service will occur Friday, May 5, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park - North Hyland, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326. A reception will occur Friday, May 5, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park - Private Estate Garden, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
