George Wheeler, age 71, passed away at his home on February 26, 2013. He was born in Modesto and continued to live in the Stanislaus area all his life. He attended Hart Ransom and Modesto High School. He was raised on a dairy and went into construction working as an operator for Reed’s Trenching and Jack Forcade & Clyde Wheeler Pipeline. He also had his own backhoe service for several years. For the last 15 years he worked for Melvin T. Wheeler & Sons where he operated scrapers and bale wagons within the family industry. He is survived by his daughters, Tammy and Tricia, sons, Russell and Jody (Tammie), 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Marian Ross and Gayle Flannagan, brothers, Melvin (Mary), Carl (Sandy), Roger, Richard (Tamra) and Clyde (Donna), many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Melvin and Sophie Wheeler. He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother – he will be missed by all those who loved him. Until we meet again in Heaven – may he rest in peace. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson, CA. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6 from 4-8pm. Funeral Service Thursday, March 7 at 10am with burial to follow.
