Ellen Caporgno, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 100. Born on February 1, 1924 in Gilbert, Arizona, to Dominic and Giuseppina (Chialant) Costa, Ellen spent her early years in the Santa Maria and Guadalupe areas.
In 1943, she married the love of her life, William Caporgno, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted over six decades. Together, they moved to the family farm in 1948, where Ellen worked tirelessly alongside William while raising their four children. Her dedication to family and community was unmatched. She was actively involved in her children's school activities and was known for her exceptional talents as a seamstress.
Ellen and William cherished spending time with friends and family, often hosting card games and gatherings. After raising their children, they enjoyed traveling to various destinations, with their trip to Europe to visit family holding a special place in their hearts.
A gifted cook, Ellen had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed at her table. Her hospitality and warm spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She continued living on the farm until 2017, when she moved to Bethel Retirement Community. There, she formed new friendships, participated in activities, and cherished the weekly Scott's Sub deliveries from Butch and Thursday outings with her daughters.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband William, her son Butch and her sons-in-law David and Scott. She is survived by her daughters Diana, Fran, and Joni (Mark) and her daughter-in-law Verneen. She was Noni to seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.
A rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. A luncheon reception will follow at Lakewood.
Ellen's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Community Hospice and the compassionate caregivers at Bethel, especially Ivy, Jessica, and Crystal, for their love, kindness and care.
Ellen Caporgno was a remarkable woman whose love and generosity touched countless lives. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
