Mom was born in Wagoner, Oklahoma. Mom was a proud okie. One of 9 children born to Clyde and Gladys Moore. She came to California in the back of her Grandpa’s pick-up truck in the 1940s. Her family settled in Keyes. She resided in Ceres for 65 years. Lived in Manteca the last 6 years.
Mom was a waitress starting at 14, working at her father’s restaurant in Wagoner, OK. She waitressed at the original Old Mill in Modesto, where she met Marvin Garrett. They were together until he passed in 1989. Mom was a superior seamstress. She was well known for her world famous pies. Mom loved her garden.
Mom was a survivor, she would have been a terrible poker player, as she lived by the cards she was dealt with in life. She was the last member of her Moore Family. Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wed. January 19, just 9 days after her 90th birthday.
Preceded by her mother and father, husband Marvin Garrett, her daughter Phyllis. Brothers Bud, Terry, Arthur, Junior, and Harold. Sisters Willodean, Imogene, and Wanda, and first husband James White.
Survived by daughters Brenda (Bob) Williams, Judy (Jerry) Sonke, Pam (Roger) Deal, and son Jim (Ronda) Garrett. Grandchildren Jennifer, Jason, Stacy, Kary, James G., Amy, Nicole, Trisha, Mark S., James S., Mark E., Brian, and Ashley, also 20+ great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 beginning at 11:00am at Lakewood Funeral Home – Heritage Chapel 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
