Doris Ann Caldwell passed away on April 1, 2025, at the age of 85. Doris was born January 1, 1940, in Modesto to parents Donovan and Alberta (Marsh) Bodes. After graduating from Thomas Downey High School in 1957, Doris attended Modesto Junior College and Humboldt State College. While in college, she met William G. Caldwell, whom she married in 1961. They raised their two children, Guy and Janna, during their twenty-five year marriage.
Doris returned to Modesto Junior College in 1973 to enter the newly established nursing program. She obtained her R.N. license in 1976, Doris spent most of her nursing career at Memorial Hospital, including serving as Charge Nurse on Oncology for a decade.
Doris is survived by her son, Guy Caldwell and his wife, Cari; daughter, Janna Clark; grandson Tyler Caldwell and his wife, Nicole; grandson Travis Caldwell and his wife, Amber; two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Cody Caldwell; her sister, Janet Neal and her husband Joe; her niece, Sara Candito and husband Anthony, and their two sons Will and Sam; and by Bill Sizemore, brother-in-law.
Doris was predeceased by her parents; her younger sister, Barbara Sizemore; her son-in-law, Michael Clark; and her nephew, Joshua Neal.
Doris was energetic, loving and loyal, with a beautiful smile. She was passionate and spunky. She loved the SF Giants, horseback riding, and Sonora Pass. Most of all, she loved her grandsons. She enjoyed traveling, including trips to Japan, Russia, Norway, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
