Donny was born on June 11, 1941 to the parents of Earl and Vera Knowles in Norman, Oklahoma. His first job was working in the field picking crops as a young boy and helping his family. He later started his career at Tri Valley Growers where he worked for many years and retired after 46 years of service. In 1982 he met Ethel at Tri Valley but had known her since they were children growing up in south Modesto. Although Donny wasn’t their biological father he was father to Denise Warwick and Butch Elinburg for many years. Through the years Poppa spent time doing many activities. He snow skied, hunted, drove the boat so we could water ski, cut lots of wood, four wheeled, camping, traveling, and what he enjoyed most was fishing at Brightman Flat. He always caught his limit and Grammy’s limit too.
Donny was predeceased by his mother and father, brothers Delbert Ryder, Billy Knowles, Dwayne Knowles, and sisters Cathy Keeney, Ann Armstrong. He is survived by his wife Ethel Knowles, Sister Rosie Mayne, Many nieces and nephews, Daughter Denise Warwick (husband Brad Warwick), son Butch Elinburg (wife Gina Elinburg). He had 5 grandchildren, 5 Great Grand Children, and 1 Great, Great, Grandchild. Services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 10:30 am.
A graveside service for Donny will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park - Evergreen Garden, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
Serving as pallbearers are Butch Elinburg , Brad Warwick, Chad Warwick, Dereck Warwick and Clay Elinburg .
