Dear Jeanette and family, 
Vera and I have just heard of Don’s passing and wish to offer our condolences. When I became a prosecutor in 1971 and moved to Modesto, Don was Chief Deputy and trained me to the point where he promoted me to be his Assistant when he became District Attorney. I owe my career as a Judge to Don as he allowed me to experience every aspect of the criminal justice system in my 16 years in the Office. He ran a very efficient and ethical Office.
Besides the professional help, he was the first to help In my move to Modesto after buying a home a block away from his as he allowed us to store household effects in his garage before we could move into our new home. Even during the oil embargo when gasoline was scarce  and I had to make a long trip, he temporarily traded my gas guzzler for his longer range car.
May he Rest In Peace.

I am thinking of you and I’m so sorry.  I remember looking at photos (at your mom’s) of you and Donald ... what a character he was and so full of life.  His big personality fit right in with your amazing family!  Take care my friend, love Vicky
