Charles Odell Ison, age: 90, passed at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, CA, surrounded by his daughter, one son and numerous grandchildren. A native of Muskogee, Oklahoma but grew up in the Central Valley of California. He served in the Army during WWII under Gen MacArthur’s Command in the Pacific. He left the Army as a Sgt. He drove a diesel tanker for many years and his last 26 years of his work life was a Sub-Foreman at Gallo Winery in the Champagne Cellars. Other than his family he loved ice cream, M&Ms and gambling. Many people can recount at least one if not more of his gambling stories which he told right up to the end. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Amy Cagle Ison, his parents, Charles Henry Ison & Nora Mayfield Ison, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 sons; Brad Fugate & Andy Steagall along with both their wives. He leaves behind; 1 daughter, Sheila Wilmouth, 5 sons; Don Ison, Bob Ison, Steve Ison, Fred Steagall & Jack Steagall, 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, other family as well.
Funeral Services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe, Hughson, CA. with a Graveside military service on Friday, Apr 25, 2014 at 10 am. Refreshments to follow at a granddaughter’s home at 1608 Fiddle Leaf Lane, Ceres, CA.
