Catherine (Kay) James, age 88, died October 19, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born on March 14, 1928 in Beloit, Wisconsin, she lived in Los Angeles until 1998 when she and her late husband moved to Modesto. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. James was a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Sisters of Providence, St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, CA, and a realtor in Modesto, associated with Prudential Real Estate and Ed James Real Estate.
Mrs. James is survived by her daughters, Martha (Marti) James and Marilyn Scheid, son-in-law Michael D. Scheid, and grandsons Christopher, Michael, James and William Scheid, all of Modesto, as well as nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Kentucky and Colorado. She is predeceased by her husband Edward L. James, parents Joseph V. and Mary Gertrude (Finnerty) Haffey, and four brothers, Joseph F. Haffey, Ferdinand Haffey, Francis Haffey, and Ralph Haffey.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Riverbank Nursing Center and Optimal Hospice for their loving care during her residence there. Services on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson.
