Catalina (ne'e Neri) Garcia left her earthly body on November 14, 2022. Katie as she was known was born on April 30, 1925 in Jalisco, Mexico to Juan and Pascuala Neri. The family emigrated to California before she learned to walk. They settled in the sleepy town of Snelling where she would meet her soulmate, Raul who was 5 years her senior. Katie and Raul eloped at her tender age of 16 much to her parents chagrin. Together they raised 5 amazing children. It was a proud moment for Katie when all of her studying and tutelage by her eldest children paid off and she became a citizen.
Catalina worked many jobs to help provide for her family. She found permanent employment at Stanislaus Food Products (formerly Suzy Bell) for many years where she rose in ranks and ultimately retired at the young age of 62. Katie loved to stay busy with her hobbies of bowling - to which, she bowled in leagues until 91 years old, visiting with friends and being a grandmother. Her biggest joy was when she was anywhere with her love, Raul. They were married just a month shy of 70 years. In Katie's eyes, he was her Prince Charming and theirs was the story that books and fantasies were derived from until he left this world 10 years ago.
Katie was with her son when she drew her last breath to go be with her loved ones that predeceased her, but ultimately to finally be back with her soulmate! Catalina is survived by her oldest son, Raul Garcia Jr. of Modesto, youngest daughter, Ruth (Ed) Ross of Ceres, youngest son, David Garcia of Modesto. Grandchildren: Michael (Kate) Mun of Boston, MA. Raquel Garcia of Madera, Leta (Scott) Fusi of Modesto, Edward Ross of Ceres, Lena Garcia of San Francisco and Maria (Adam) Baltzer of Ceres and many great grandchildren. As stated above, she was predeceased by Raul Sr as well as her daughter Theresa Garcia and son Raymond Garcia. She will be missed by all.
Services and visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home - Heritage Chapel on Monday, November 28 at 11:00 AM Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
