Adam was born in Newman, Ca on December 7th, 1944, to his parents Adam and Isabel Ortega. He was the oldest of his siblings, with 2 sisters Dolores and Rosa.
Adam joined the construction field fresh out of high school and in 1971 he married the love of his life, Nellie, and started his family. He later became a Newman police officer for 5 years and then realized it wasn’t for him and went back to the construction union. Shortly after they welcomed their first born, Audra and later their son, Anthony. Through thick or thin Adam did it all with his family. Some of the best memories revolving around Adam included him hunting, fishing, camping and just being outdoors with his family. Adam loved each and every one of his children and grandchildren, he enjoyed teaching and showing them everything he could about the outdoors, including how to fish and hunt. He lived his life to the fullest and used humor to win everyone over. Despite life throwing him lemons Adam always found a way to make the sweetest lemonade.
After 17 years in the Laborers’ Union Local 1130, Adam retired and started his own landscaping business which he successfully owned and operated for 5 years. He loved every minute of being his own boss, working outside every single day, never having to ask anyone for time off to be with his family and do the things he loved. Adam was a well-loved husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who’s paths he crossed.
Adam is survived by his wife Nellie, his children Audra Munoz (Louis Munoz), Anthony Ortega, (Kathleen Ortega), four grandchildren Matthew and Rebecca Ortega and Louis and Alexis Munoz and his sister Rosa. He is preceded in death by his sister Dolores Gault along with his parents Adam and Isabel Ortega.
