Sorry to be leaving a comment so late. Every few years I do a Google search for Mr. Seng, who was my seventh and eighth grade math teacher at Northwestern, and I was saddened to discover his passing. I became a teacher, and the reason I look him up every few years is that when I am feeling burned out, I get re-inspired by looking him up. He was a major influence on my life. More than math, he taught me that we study and we learn not because of any carrot or stick or not because of a means to an end. We study because we want to understand. The measure of a man is how those he influenced act. I would never say that I am as good a teacher as he was, but I can say every day I aspire to be as good a teacher as he was. Rest in peace.

My condolences to the family. My memory? I was with Joe when he made a hole in one! Our group was on a par 3 hole that had a pond. Joe did not hit one of his better shots. A low liner.  It looked like it was going in the drink. But it hit the very edge of the downward slope of the green which slowed it down and allowed the ball to bounce once on the green and roll into the hole. Joe was speechless as the rest of our foursome went nuts!!

My condolences to his family. I graduated from Northwestern Lehigh in 1976 and Mr. Seng was one of the teachers I had the pleasure of learning from. As awesome as he was a teacher, he was an even better person. I did not realize he was in The Army and Airborne. I went on to serve over twenty years in The United States Army and spent a good deal of my time at Fort Bragg with the 82D Airborne Division and made quite a few jumps myself. I am greatly saddened by this news and he will always hold a place in my heart.

I’m so saddened that we have just learned of the passing of Joe. I was honored to teach with him in my team from 1992 until his retirement.  The ultimate professional.  His expectations were high and the students respected him.  Thank you for serving our country and Rest In Peace  my friend xxx   Hugs to his family

May peace be with Mr Seng’s family. Mr Seng was my junior high math teacher at NHS. When I think of Mr Seng - and have throughout the years - I think of respect, discipline, integrity, and compassion - he taught math too but his being taught me SO much more. Thank you Mr Seng for being YOU.

I am sorry to here my friend Joe Seng passed away.I knew him as a golfing buddy We played every other Sunday for many years.I know you'll be missed by his family and his friends,You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart aches  for you.  I too will miss him, for he was More like a son than a nephew. We shared many good memories together. I still will remember those good memories with him and Pat. I know he is with the Lord and in no pain now. We will all miss him. Aunt EmmaJane

I am so saddened by Joe's passing. As his cousin, I used to call him Butch.  As we grew to adults, it was hard to remember he wanted to be called Joe. 

Pat, there are no words I can say to ease your pain. But, know our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am heartbroken over the loss of Uncle Joe. He was such a great man and will be missed by everyone that knew him. 

Aunt Pat, I can't take away your pain, but know how deeply we care and know we are thinking about and praying for you. 

Dave and Shannon, there are no words for the loss of your Dad/FIL. Losng a parent is HARD.
