Zana Roe Thompson Johnson, a former resident of Dallas and a long-time resident of Fort Bend County, peacefully passed away on February 6, 2014 surrounded by her family. Born in 1924 in Pecos, Texas, Zana, affectionately known as "Babe" by her parents, attended W.H. Adamson High School in Dallas, Texas before attending North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, Texas. Coming back to Dallas, Zana worked for the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad where she met her husband, Robert Ray "Bob" Johnson, from Winnsboro, Texas. Zana and Bob were married from 1950 until Bob's untimely death in 1985 in an industrial accident. Zana worked in the beginning of the computer industry for IBM and C E Lummus, while raising three children, Wes, Ellen and Charley. After retirement, Zana became very active in the Fort Bend Republican Women's Club and The Fort Bend County Fair. She enjoyed ranching, raising cattle for fun and traveling with her friends and grandchildren. Zana traveled all over The United States and the world. Some of her favorite destinations were Africa, Japan, Russia, England, and France. One of her favorite activities was taking her grandchildren at the age of 10 to the destination of their choice across The United States. She had eleven grandchildren and she was able to accompany all but two on their trips. For those two trips she could not attend, she funded their adventures. These were her most beloved memories.
Zana was preceded in death by her parents, Irone Wesley Thompson and Mamie Roe Thompson, and her husband "Bob" Johnson. She is survived by her three children; Robert Wesley Johnson and his wife Linda Weichsel Johnson, Martha Ellen Crocker and her husband Charles Glen Crocker, and Charles Stephen Johnson and his wife, Vicki Lynn Johnson. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren; Robert Matthew Johnson, Lauren Gillet Duquette and her husband Allen Guy Duquette, Charles Justin Crocker and his wife Adelina Gallegos Crocker, Jeremy Austin Crocker and his wife Stephanie Hill Crocker, Jacob Tyler Crocker, Jenny Nicole Crocker, Charles Ryan Johnson, Samantha Jo Johnson, Cole Jacob Johnson, Evangelyn Jane Johnson, and Henry Travis Johnson, as well as six great-grandchildren; Rianna Gallegos Crocker, Lola Gallegos Crocker, Raven Hill, Kailey Elizabeth Crocker, Aiden Jonathan Crocker, and Jackson Reef Crocker.
