Willie C. Lampley, Jr. was born on January 22, 1947, to the late Addie Mae Lampley and Willie C. Lampley, Sr. in Henry County, Newville, Alabama. He was nurtured and raised by his late grandparents, Annie Mae and Dock Holloway on a Farm located in the Newville area. He accepted Christ at a young age, and joined the Rocky Mt. Baptist Church in his local community. Willie's continued faith was an important part of his life. In his later years, he read his bible daily, prayed regularly, and hosted weekly bible study sessions at his home. He leaves behind a legacy of faith and devotion.
Willie was educated in the Henry County School System. After graduating from high school, he relocated to Birmingham, Alabama, to pursue a Degree in Culinary Art at the Wenonah State Technical School (presently known as Lawson State College) where he successfully completed the curriculum requirements; and, was honored with a Culinary Art/Chef Associate Degree. Willie served as "Executive Chef" for various restaurants in Washington, DC, New York, and Massachusetts where he was highly praised for his leadership, creativity, and teamwork. Willie's punctuality and organizational skills were honed during his time in the military, where he served in the United States Army in Vietnam; and various areas throughout the United States.
Willie was a man who valued his relationship with friends and family. He had a dedicated time each week to call loved ones; and cherished those connections. He was also known for his love of fishing, gardening; and cooking. Most of all, let us not forget the joy; and companionship he enjoyed with his beloved pet, “Cookie”.
On Thursday, October 5, 2023, Willie entered eternal rest. Earth's loss is Heaven's gain. He will be remembered by all who shared his sense of humor and "zest for life". Memories of Willie will always be cherished by his two daughters, Stacey and Stephanie, and his son-in-law, Daniel Davis, the mother of his children Gwendolyn Jackson. He was a loving grandfather to Damarkus Lampley, Daron Lampley, Courtney Lampley, Charles White, Earl Foster, Tazj Lampley, and Micah Flye. He also had nine great-grandchildren, including Zion Lampley, Zury Lampley, Zyare Lampley, Reni Hutchison, Tazje Lampley, Shabak, and Charlie Blair White.
Willie is also survived by his aunt, Joette Holloway-Jones, brother Glen Davis, sisters Addie (Kenny) Pineda, cousins (Andre, Chris. Elton, Lei and Casey); Arealious (Lerenzia) Davenport, Mary Davis, Carolyn Walker together, with a number of respective nieces, nephews and cousins; plus, cousins: James Earl (June) Williams, Angela (Raheen) Kaleia Lumpkin, Barabara (Jack) Gordon, Francis (Darrin) Mitchell; and, extended Family and Friends.

A funeral service to celebrate Willie's life will be held at the American Heritage Funeral Home located at 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. The funeral home has been assisting with the arrangements.
