William Albert (Bert) Welborn III, 78, of Montgomery, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 2, 2021. William was born on April 15, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas to parents William Albert Welborn, Jr. and Melba Deen (Fuller) Welborn.
William attended both Northside and Birdville High School. At the young age of 19, Bert joined the U.S. Navy where he served his country proudly for four years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a previous member of the American Legion Post #618, a previous member of the Fox Hill Club in Longmont, Colorado, and member of Bentwater Country Club in Montgomery, Texas. After his discharge from the Navy, Bert moved back home to Texas. He was an entrepreneur with a strong work ethic who ran his own business which led him to live in several different locations. He moved to South Carolina then Savannah, Georgia where he met the mother of his children, Angela Sue Welborn. He also lived in Arkansas and Louisiana where he later retired. After retiring he then moved to Colorado where he lived for several years before relocating back to Texas.
Bert had many passions throughout his life. Some of these passions included spending quality time with family, having get togethers at his lake house in Montgomery, playing bingo at the American Legion and visiting his favorite pub, The Cactus Lounge. During his pastime he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing dominos with his family. He loved watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Texas Longhorns and the Houston Astros. Bert had a huge heart and was always very giving. All who knew him will miss Bert dearly.
Bert is preceded in death by his parents, William Albert Welborn, Jr., Melba Dean Welborn and brother, Donald "Don" Ray Welborn.
Left to cherish his memory are children, William Albert Welborn, IV and wife Jamie, Michael David Welborn and wife Diana; four grandchildren, Jada, Rylie, Jace, and Liam; brother, Jerry Welborn and wife, Kay; three nieces, Holly, Shelby and Kaycee, as well as a host of extended family members and friends who also survive.
