Robert Lawrence Marietta was born as William Lawrence Wardlow on the 4th of October 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas to William Warren Wardlow and Nathalie Audrey Sippy. Larry was a jack-of –all trades. After graduating from South Houston High School in 1962, he started attending college classes and he picked up glass blowing as a professional job before working at Texas Instruments where he met his wife Susie. After he worked at TI he became the Product Manager for Anteck Instruments. From there he eventually moved on to become the Chief Chemist for Big Three Industries, afterwards he found his passion working with laboratory and analytical equipment for Hewlett-Packard, and then retired from Agilent Technologies in 2008.
Larry enjoyed hunting, general aviation, fixing cars, fishing, wood working, hanging out with friends and family, and making people laugh. He only started wood working full time after he retired. He made pens, bowls, and other household goods for friends and family.
He is survived by his spouse Susie, his son Ryan and wife Diana, his daughter Vanessa, and his two sisters Betty Gosdin and Kathy House. He is preceded by his father William and his mother Nathalie.
A couple of Larry’s most told jokes:
What goes in hard and stiff and comes out soft and sticky?
...a stick of gum
What does a man do standing up, a woman does sitting down, and a dog do on three legs?
...shake hands
