William Ralph Walker, 87, left the church visible for the church victorious on January 11, 2017 after struggling with the end stages of Parkinson’s Disease. Ralph was born, the youngest of five children, on February 3, 1929 to Stephen and Edith (Barrett) Walker in Salt Lake City, Utah. He served his country in United States Air Force for thirty years; he was honorably retired in 1974. Eventually after retirement, Ralph made his home with his family in the Houston area. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for U. S. Home Corporation and Alief Independent School District. He was married to his first wife, Helen, for over fifty years at the time of her death. At the time of his death, Ralph was married to Mary (Woodall) Walker. Family Visitation will be at 10:00 am in the chapel of the American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas and Funeral service will follow at noon. Rev. Regina Maas will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Houston National Cemetery. Ralph is preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a niece. Survivors include his wife, Mary; children: Rick Walker and wife Pauline, Regina Maas and husband Jim, Roger Walker and wife Jackie, and Russell Walker; grandchildren: Carla Batts and husband Kurt, Sherry Hodges and husband John, Jimmy Maas and wife Christene, Jody Maas and wife Kelli, Anthony Walker and wife Kerri, and Suzy Reich and husband Jeff; great-grandchildren: Shelby Atwell and wife Melissa, Olivia Maas, Violet Maas, Cole Maas, Ryan Maas, Andrew Walker, Brooke Walker, Bella Kate Walker, Jeffrey Reich, and Janie Reich; great-great-grandchild: Esther Ann Atwell; step-children: Carol Bateson and husband David, Connie May and husband Tommy; step-grandchildren: Ashley Brownson and husband Jeffrey, Brittany Rogers, Sara Lilley and husband Randy, Julian Alexander Villarreal, Anna Villarreal, Jessica Villarreal; step-great-grandchildren: Hailey Brownson, Jacob Brownson, Julian Anthony Villarreal.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038. Funeral service will be held January 18, 2017 at 12:00pm with a committal service to follow at Houston National Cemetery.
