Bill grew up on Long Island, New York, to a loving family and had a happy childhood, where he loved to ride his bicycle, his mini-bike, and his many cars. He met Laura Dailey (“Miss Dailey” as she was called by his proper grandmother) in January 1975. They married in 1979 and immediately headed off to Houston, Texas, to start their life together, with no jobs, in a Chevy Blazer. Bill worked in the printing business for Gulf Printing for 20 years, before pursuing his true passion as a realtor. He quickly worked his way up to a top producer at Gary Greene Realtors. He was so successful at sales that he was hired in 2005 by Frontier Custom Builders, where he worked until his death. Bill worked since he was 14 and was set to retire on May 31, 2022.
In his years in the printing and real estate business, Bill was a great friend and coworker to all who knew him. He was quick witted, fun to be around and kind to everyone. He loved playing and watching golf and having an occasional cigar with a friend.
Bill is survived by his wife, Laura; son, William (“Billy”) John McGrath VI, and his wife, Kelline Linton, and their newborn baby, Holly; and daughter, Colleen and her husband, Thomas Steffl. He also leaves behind his mother, Nancy McGrath; sister, Nancy Black and her fiancé, Phil Callison; sister, Terry Budd and her husband, Terry Budd; and brother, Tim McGrath and his wife, Alison McGrath; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on May 26, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, Texas 77095.
