William James Holmes, Sr. was born on April 21, 1943 to Reverend Peter and Otelia Holmes. William came to know Christ at an early age. He graduated from LaMarque High School and moved to Houston, TX to work for the City of Houston. William later retired from Shell Oil Refinery as an engineer. William leaves to mourn: his wife, Tokeshia, his children, Vernon Shotwell (Demetria), William Holmes, Jr, Stacy McAdams, Kenneth Prudhomme, Cynthia Davis (Charlie), Leonard Prudhomme (Nickar), Derrick Prudhomme (Ashley), Noland Sharp, Tremayne Holmes, Adoria Holmes, Porsha Holmes, William Holmes, Jr, his brother, George Holmes, his sisters, Jeanie Davis, Betty Rodgers, his mother in law, his father in law, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. William is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Peter and Otelia Holmes, and his sisters Barbara Johns and Annie Sims. William was a founding member of several churches including Glorious Hope Bible Fellowship where he was ordained as a deacon. William joined Church of Jesus Christ from God where he was also a deacon and President of the Brotherhood. William enjoyed cooking, helping others, and working on cars. He was a generous person who did not mind helping someone, even if it meant it was his last.
