Missouri City, TX. Willa was the proud mother of Ella Scott Menefee, Dr. Viola Scott OD, and Leroy Scott, Jr. (Laurell).
She was the doting grandmother to Dawnyell Menefee, Tiffanye Scott, and Joshua Scott. Willa cherished her great-grandson, Scott Curtis Williams. Willa was the only daughter of Adolph and Irene Gore and the sister of Fred Jackson.
Willa was a graduate of Harris High School in Belton and Temple Junior College. She worked in the clerical department of the Veterans Hospital in Temple and Houston for a decade. She joined the Brentwood Baptist Church staff in 1982 and retired after 29 years.
Willa was an active and faithful member of Magnolia Baptist Church in Belton. After moving to Houston, she joined Brentwood Baptist Church and became an active and faithful member.
Willa let her voice be heard through her involvement with many organizations/groups including Sunday School, Woman’s Missionary Union, Sisters Who Care, Baptist Women, Adults on Mission, Gold Star Wives of America, Veterans Ministries, Jewels, and a host of others.
Willa marched to the beat of her own drum. This led her to leave an impact on countless lives.
As a member of the Guys and Dolls social club, the group would annually get dolled up in custom coordinated floor length gowns with satin gloves. They would dance the night away! Willa was an independent thinker who was passionate about learning new things. If she saw a need, she would “pitch” her idea to get the ball rolling. This was especially true with her mission work.
Willa was preceded in death by: Adolf Gore (Father), Irene Gore (Mother), Fred Lane Jackson (Brother), and Leroy Scott, Sr (Husband). She leaves to cherish her memories: Her immediate family, a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones.
