Mr. Whitney Hayward Henderson, also known affectionately as “Bird”, “Whit”, “Daddy” and “PaPa” was born on April 1, 1940 in Weeks Island, Louisiana and was the second child of Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. and Elzina Francis Henderson. He peacefully transitioned from his earthly home in Houston, Texas on June 29, 2021.
Whitney, baptized at a young age, attended primary school in Hitchcock, Texas and graduated from Lincoln High School in La Marque, Texas. He went on to serve in the United States Army in the Korean and Vietnam Wars where he was a part of the transportation unit.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, he was employed at Monsanto Chemical Company in Texas City, Texas as a security guard.
Driven by his interest in traveling and being around people, Whitney started a career in the transportation industry as a motor coach operator working for Greyline, Coach USA and First Class Tours where he worked for many years before his health declined.
Preceding him in death are his mother and father, a brother Andrew Henderson, and sister Doris Caldwell.
Whitney Henderson leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife, Mrs. Brenda Shaw Henderson; two loving daughters, Kimberly Henderson of Waco, Texas and Yusheria Henderson of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Delories Henderson Wilson of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; a sister-in-law Mrs. Linda Tillis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
