Wayne Alan Kirsch, 72, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Wayne was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 13, 1945. He graduated from Milby High School in 1964. He enlisted in the Navy following graduation. While in the Navy, Wayne was stationed in Kodiak, Alaska from December 1965-1966. He was aboard the USS Chicago (CG-11) from January 1967-December 1968. Wayne was discharged from the Navy on December 02, 1968 as a Quartermaster Third Class. On February 01, 1969, He married Theresa Ann Kirsch in Houston, Texas. They had one daughter, Lesli Kirsch. He was employed by Signal Oil and Gas Company. He remained with the oil refinery as it went through numerous name changes that include Charter Oil and Valero Oil Refinery. He retired from Valero Oil Refinery in 2009. He loved to hunt and fish and the stories that went along with them. Wayne enjoyed baseball and softball. He was an active supportive father during the more than 10 years Lesli played softball and various activities she participated in. Prior to his diagnosis of Leukemia (CMML-2), Wayne and Lesli attended all 30 MLB parks. Wayne was proud of accomplishing his “baseball bucket list”.
He is survived by his loving wife Theresa Kirsch of 49 years, daughter Lesli Kirsch, brother Thomas Gregory Kirsch, sisters Marjorie Makoschey and Vicki Lynn Kempe; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne loved being a husband and father. He took pride in being the best brother and uncle. Although people called him different names: Honey, Dad, Brother, Uncle Wayne, Mr. Wayne, Mr. Kirsch, Pop and Wayner, everyone that met him called him Friend. He never met a stranger and always made you feel welcomed. Wayne enjoyed life, family, and many friends. Wayne was always there to brighten the lives of others.
