Walter was born on April 29, 1951 in Meridian, Texas. He spent his young years running barefoot, wild and free on a ranch in Walnut Springs, Texas. The family moved to Waco, Texas, where Walter grew up.
Walter was a tax consultant with Harding and Carbone for many years.
In January, 2014, Walter received a liver transplant at Houston Methodist Hospital. From that point, up until the time of his death, Houston Methodist Conover Hospital Transplant Center became his passion. Since 2018, Walter was a member of the Houston Methodist Conover Liver Center Task Force and President’s Leadership Council. The care, love, and constant support from the liver transplant center team has been unequaled. Walter was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Calvin and Ebby Brasher McFadden of Cranfills Gap, Texas, his maternal grandparents, Dr. W.W. and Orah Shipp Melton of Waco, Texas, and his parents, Ralph Cecil and Gladys Melton McFadden of Waco, Texas. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kwang Mi Piak McFadden, his sister, Margaret Sue McFadden Wilson, and his brother-in-law, Don Wilson of El Paso, Texas.

The family will gather for a Graveside Service on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 2:30 PM.
