Walter Scott Mather, age 92, was born December 12, 1921 in Houston, Texas. He passed away on April 16, 2014. Scott was a native Houstonian and graduated from Lamar high school. Scott received his B.S. from the University of Houston. He served in the United States Army as a Captain with the 881 Bomb Squadron and 500 Bomb Group. Scott was a Geophysicist and worked for Skelly, Getty, Texaco and Chevron, in various states throughout his career. He was a member of the Conroe Lions Club, the Panorama Village Golf Club and Conroe's Methodist Church. Scott enjoyed playing golf, bridge and traveling during the summer to Colorado.
He was preceded in death by Jean Carter Mather (1st marriage) and his brother Ed Mather. He is survived by his spouse Lou W. Mather; son, Michael Scott Mather and wife Tammy, Gary Carter Mather and wife Connie and David Reed Mather; grandchildren, Jennifer Kathryn Mather and David Scott Mather and niece, Carol Mather. Any memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. There will be a visitation held Wednesday, April 23, from 10 to 11 am and funeral service will begin at 11 am. Services will be held in the main chapel of Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home. Interment and reception will immediately follow.
