Walter Lewcun, age 90, born in Lvov Poland on September 25, 1925, passed away in Houston, Texas on May 6, 2016. Walter escaped three death sentences as a survivor of the WWII concentration camps where he was a political prisoner for 7 years. After the war, he became a restaurant owner and entrepreneur. In 1951, he joined the rest of his family in America. After working several jobs in the east he met the love of his life, Ava Sue Price on a New Year’s Eve blind date. His other love of the theater and arts whisked them away to Hollywood. His many endeavors included live theater ownership and production as well as acting in movies and television along with working on special effects. He loved freedom and proudly became a US citizen on November 25, 1964. After starting a family, he moved to Texas where he continued theater production and started an oil recovery business. Walter was known for his story telling and love of people. He was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church since 1972 where he served as an usher for 20 years. He stayed active by keeping a perfectly manicured yard and exercising daily at the Dad’s Club. He is survived by his wife Ava Lewcun of 59 years, his son Michael Lewcun and wife Terri, his daughter Stacy Lewcun and grandson Mason Lewcun.
Visitation will be held at Waltrip Funeral Home located at 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas 77055 on Tuesday, May 10 from 5pm – 7pm. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church located at 11720 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, Texas 77024 beginning at 10:30am on Wednesday May 11th, 2016.
