Bro. Walter Lee Johnson was born in Houston, Texas February 7, 1943 to the proud parents of Olif and Lawrence Johnson Sr. He accepted Christ as his savior at an early age. He attended the Houston public school system and was a graduate of Kashmere Gardens High School in 1962. Walter married Rosetta Brooks on July 20, 1963. And to this union 4 daughters were born: Wenona Lanelle, Kimberly Ann, Youlanda Michelle, and Jennifer Christina. They were married for 52 years. He was a dedicated husband, a loving father and grandfather. Walter worked over 40 years in various industries from food service to Fastener and Steele. Hughes Supply was his last place of employment where he was a commercial truck driver before his health declined. He joined St. john Missionary Baptist Church on July 31, 1955, under the leadership of the late Rev. O. W. Wilson and later under Rev. S. C. August. While there he was an active servant, participated in several ministries and held several leadership positions (President of male chorus and active deacon). Bro. Walter Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Mary), and 5 brothers (Leroy, Lawrence Jr., Lionel Sr., Albert Sr., and earl Sr.,). He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife; Rosetta, daughters; Wenona, Kimberly (Ralph), Youlanda (James), Jennifer (Byron); 4 grandsons (Jeremy, Brandon, Jaylynn, Jacobie), 3 granddughters (Myronesha, Bobby) Taylor and Janeciea, 1 great grandson (Chase), 1 brother George Sr., a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
