Life Story "May the works I've done speak for me." ~ Revelations 14:13 On January 9, 1915, Walter Rean Evans was born in Shepherd, Texas in San Jacinto County to Rufus Lewis and Mackie Lewis. She was the third of seven children born to this union. She attended Shepherd High School. After moving to Houston she met Richard Evans, the love of her life. They were joined in holy matrimony on September 7, 1946. Together, they reared two children Mae Frances Williams and Brenda Hall. The family were longtime members of Second Cavalcade Baptist Church and united with the church in 1958 under the direction of Rev. Robert Lee Cunningham. Her love for Christ and love for Second Cavalcade inspired her service in the church. She was a Deaconess, on the mission board and an active member of the church under the direction of the late Rev. Marvin L. Anderson until her health prevented her from serving. Walter Rean was a dedicated worker, who retired from the Harris County Hospital District after over 30 years of service. She enjoyed a long retirement and loved spending time with her family, including her great-great grandchildren. Walter Rean was preceded in death by her husband, parents, six sisters, a brother and her beloved daughter Mae Frances. Her memories will be dearly cherished by her daughter, Brenda Hall; four grandchildren: Shannon Williams, Jr. (Vivian), Jarvis Williams (Regina), Carolyn Patterson, Jerry Hall (Tanisha); six great grandchildren Shauni Williams, Krissah Thompson (Danny), Kanisha Aikin (Phillip), Justin Williams (Jennifer), Ashley Patterson, Lauren Williams, Cameron Hall and Christian Hall; and three great-great grandchildren Andre Aker, Adrian Aker and Carter Aikin. She was also beloved by nephew Johnnie Ray Davidson and niece Lula Mae Patterson, along with a host of cousins and other relatives.
