Virginia was born in Paris, Texas to Virgil Raymond Diggs and Elizabeth Leona Gooding. She was preceded in death by her husband, Miller Orville Taylor; her son, Mickey Allen Taylor; brother, Virgil Raymond Diggs, Jr. and sister Elizabeth Louise Diggs.
She worked for many years at Texaco Oil Company, Taylor Brothers Plumbing and Texas Commerce Bank. Virginia was a member at Faith Family Baptist Church in Kingwood, Texas.
Her hobbies and interests included family, traveling, gardening, cooking, collecting, quilting and crocheting, but her most favorite was making memories with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether supporting them at little league baseball and football games or at school and church events, her cheers were often the most enthusiastic in the audience! Her most prized belongings were handmade artwork and crafts from her grandchildren and their annual school photos. She especially cherished the beautiful vases and Japanese doll that her grandson sent her while he was stationed in Japan with the US Navy. She traveled to California to experience Disneyland with her great grandkids and to New Hampshire to see the magnificent color of the fall leaves through their eyes. Everyone around her knew how much pride and joy it gave her to be a grandmother.
She was always recreating whimsical, fun projects and recipes that she found in magazines. Her ability to capture the undivided attention of those around her ensured that her newest projects would also become an endeavor for friends and family to embark on with her. She loved to cook and always assured her lucky taste testers “this one” would be their “new favorite.” Her countless cookbook pages were dog-eared because “that one was a keeper.”
It has been said that earth is just the front porch we are waiting on before being welcomed into our eternal home. Virginia tended to the porch so beautifully. She welcomed others to the porch with food, gifts and love. Her stories, the intentional memories she created and her enthusiasm for life will be missed dearly by the many people she touched…until we meet again.
