Virginia M Garcia

Virginia Mena Garcia, age 88, passed away on January 2, 2023 at her home in Houston, TX surrounded by her family. Virginia was born in August 1934 to Juan Mena and Esther Jimenez Rodriguez in Houston, TX. Her father passed away when Virginia was quite young, but she was blessed with a loving stepfather, Manuel Rodriguez. Virginia was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School where she was voted Most Beautiful. After high school she worked at an insurance company until she married and began raising her children. She was married to her husband, Dr. Roberto Garcia, for 63 years and together they raised four children: Marisa, Leticia, Robert Jr. and Christopher. Later, when her children were all school age, she worked side-by-side with her husband at his dental office. The patients loved her. Sometimes they would call just to talk to her. She was that special. Virginia was a loving and supportive wife and mother. She brought fun and laughter into her children’s lives. She made each of them feel special. Summer vacations, birthday parties and family holiday gatherings always displayed expressions of her love. Family was everything to her. She enjoyed traveling with her family and experiencing new places. One special place was New York City during December with all the sights and sounds of Christmas. She loved it so much the family made the trip a yearly tradition. Virginia often volunteered at her children’s schools and was room mother for each of them. She enjoyed attending their dance recitals and sporting events. She would often juggle her children’s schedules while making sure they always shared family meals together. Virginia was a caring and devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She cherished her friendships and always made time for others. Her kindness and open heart made everyone feel welcomed in her home. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Juan Mena and Esther Rodriguez; stepfather Manuel Rodriguez; sisters Connie Herrera and Eva Martinez.

Virginia is survived by her husband Roberto Garcia; children Marisa Garcia, Leticia Garcia (Paul Jones), Robert Garcia and Christopher Garcia; sisters Esther Bexar, Maria Olivia Muñoz and Eloise Rodriguez.

A visitation for Virginia will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd, Houston, Texas 77008. A rosary will be recited at 7pm later that evening. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at the Heights Funeral Chapel.

Graveside service will occur Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas 77023.
