Virginia Mae Kuhlman Davis went to be with the Lord on January 3, 2016. She was born in the Braes Bayou area of Houston, Texas on July 23, 1922, to John Theodore Kuhlman and Vera Mae Williams. She was raised in Houston, lived in the Spring Branch area most of her life, and was very active in the community.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents John Theodore Kuhlman and Vera Mae Carter; sister, Margaret Ann Schwake; husband, Herbert Davis; daughter, Peggy Thielepape; son, Michael Paul Goolsby; granddaughters, Brenda Grams and Sandra Grams Schmidt, and great grandson, Jonah Graves.
She leaves behind four children: daughters, Joyce Thielepape Grams, Jerry Thielepape Hymel and husband Norman, son, David Goolsby, and DAUGHTER-in-law, Sharon Goolsby Boudreau and husband David; grandchildren: Bruce Grams, Timothy Grams, Denise Hymel Miller and husband Mark, Steven Hymel and wife Janice, Janet Hymel Schmidt and husband Randy, Autumn Hymel Graves and husband Chris, Sean Goolsby, Michael Goolsby Jr., Clint Goolsby and wife Tessa, and Jennifer Goolsby Rivera and husband JR. She also had 21 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Virginia was an active member of AA for 43 years and helped countless people on their road to recovery. She was a published poet and Ms. Senior Plano of 1999. She was a social butterfly and people were drawn to her because of her outgoing personality. Virginia loved being a home health care provider to a great many homebound people, who came to love her as family. She never met a person that she didn’t like, and was always able to see the good in everyone she met. And, everyone she met could feel the love and compassion she had for them and loved her back.
Family and friends gathered for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8th in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services were led by Reverend John H. Parks, at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services and interment followed at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, also in Houston.
