Virginia Weaver Bennett, 93, passed away on February 1, 2013 in Houston, Texas. Virginia was born October 14, 1919 in her beloved Marshall, Missouri. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Virginia went to Marshall High School and attended Missouri Valley College. She was an an employee of The Dallas Morning News for 35 years. Her time and her relationships at The Dallas Morning News were one of the major loves of her life. She was the first woman elected to two of their male only boards and had 6 retirement parties when she left. Virginia's interests included her family, friends, reading, playing cards, yoga, dancing and listening to Dean Martin.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Moriah Hyatt Weaver and Bernard Franklin Weaver, her sister Dorothy Lee Foster and her loving daughter Sandra Lee Waits. She is survived by her daughter Sally Bennett Brady (Tim), son in law Gene Paul Waits, grandchildren Courtney Crabtree O'Neil (Christian), Cassie Lysbeth Crabtree and Ashley Waits Kees (Dane), great grandchildren Callie Hyatt O'Neil, Christian Rivers O'Neil and Clifton Christian O'Neil.
Virginia lived a wonderful life and had overwhelming love for her family as they did her. She was an old soul and the first person many would call when in need of sound advice. She was a trustworthy and loyal friend, loved by many. Most of her last year was spent living at her daughter and son in law's home. She said that she felt she was already in heaven while living there. Virginia will be greatly missed. Her family and friends are extremely grateful for her example of a life well lived.
