Virgil L. West

Virgil was married to Bernice Zita West On November 2, 1968. He was a member of VFW- Brother Mason and had a passion for golf, gin, playing the harmonica, going to the casino, drawing, reading books on history, writing poems and spending time with his family.

Virgil served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge on January 17, 1946.

Virgil is survived by; children Patrick West and wife Georgia and grandsons Levi and Tyler West; Gary West; Mark West; step-children Kenneth Michalak and wife Mary; Charles Michalak and wife Judy; and Geraldine Johnson and husband Peanut; sisters Joann Quinnett and husband Bobby, Maxine Apple Bean and brother Pat West; and his closest friend Jack Lane.

Virgil was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Zita West; son Jackie West and step-son Johnny Michalak; father Towell West and mother Elizabeth Mae Reno West; sister Mildred Winslow Whitt; brother Bud West; brother Gene West; sister Dee West; brother Jimmie West and brother Charlie West.

A visitation for Virgil will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with committal service at Brookside Memorial Park.
