Victor was born on February 2nd, 1939 in Bogota, Colombia to Manuel and Soledad (Daza) Muñoz as the oldest of 13 children. He graduated from Liceo Nacional La Salle (High School) in 1958 and from The Universidad Distrital with a B.S. in Forestry Engineering in 1964. Victor also completed graduate degrees in Reforestation from Universidad de Montes in Madrid, Spain in 1968 and Oxford University in 1980. From 1965 to 1985, Victor had a successful career at the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia and pioneered the agricultural diversification initiative in traditionally coffee-producing areas of Colombia. Among his achievements, Victor created many reforestation projects covering thousands of acres throughout the country. He was also a coffee plantation owner. Victor and his wife moved to Houston in 1992, where they started a successful career as real estate investors and managers of residential properties.
Victor was an incredibly devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. Victor married the love of his life, Amalia Suarez, in Bogota, Colombia on January 19th, 1963. He was passionate for nature, history and the arts, particularly drawing and painting. Victor is survived by his wife, Amalia Suarez Muñoz; his children, Judith and her husband Dwayne, Victor Jr. and his wife Ana Maria and, Camilo and his wife Maria; the pride of his life, his eight grandchildren Andrew, Matthew, Nicolás, Victor Andres, Sebastian, Isabella, Gabriella and Carolina; and nine siblings Francisco, Luis Eduardo, Alberto, Ana, Alonso, Dario, Gerardo, Mario and Patricia Muñoz. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Soledad and three sisters, Lucia, Leonor and Soledad.
Victor will be greatly missed and the values that defined his character, honesty and hard work, will continue to guide his family for years to come.
