Vernon Edgar Baker Jr., devoted husband, loving father and loyal friend passed away on December 2, 2024 at the age of 83. Born in Bryan, Texas on March 3, 1941 to Vernon Baker Sr. and Aileen Baker. He was the oldest of two children. Vernon built a home in Katy back when it was just rice fields. Katy is where he called home for 49 years.
Vernon graduated from Deer Park High School, class of 1959. After high school, while in his mid-20's, he met the love of his life in Galena Park, Cynthia Jamail. Since the day they met, the two have been fiercely devoted to each other for 56 years.
Vernon was an avid sportsman with extreme passion for duck and goose hunting which made Katy the perfect place to reside. He was in numerous magazines and newspapers for his outstanding hunts while he was working as a hunting guide. Vernon was known as a jack of all trades. There wasn't a piece of equipment he couldn't fix, a situation he couldn't solve, or meal he couldn't prepare to perfection.
He spent 25 years in the food industry. Vernon started off a sales rep for the company with vast territory from Lake Jackson to Schulenberg and worked his way up into the Regional Sales Manager. In this position, he ran the entire sales force.
Vernon loved his family, adored his boys and his pets including his grandpups. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 56 years, Cynthia; his sons Phillip Todd Baker & Vernon E. Baker III & daughter in law Tammy Baker.
