Resume' Of A Thankful Heart Verna Bell Banks affectionately known as "Sister" and "Aunt Beas" was born April 26, 1956 to the late Pastor Jackson Banks, Sr. and Oleivie Vance Banks. She was the sixth child of twelve siblings. Verna was a member of Kendleton Missionary Baptist Church in Kendleton, Texas, under the leadership of her father. Verna served as a devoted member for many years. Verna professed her life to Christ at an early age, understanding that she possessed a special gift from God. Verna graduated from George Washington Carver Senior High School in 1975. She went on to work as a private duty nurse in the Houston area and later as a dietician at Harvard Middle School. Verna had many loves throughout her life. She loved children and working in her garden as well as various arts and crafts, however her greatest inspiration came January 6, 1989 with the birth of her daughter Yolanda Shantell Banks whom she affectingly called "Pooh Bear". Verna loved and adored her only baby girl and instilled in her all the morals taught to her by her Mother. In the year of 2000, she became a charter member of Spring Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Eric A. Wilson, Sr. On Saturday May 10, 2014, Verna entered into the gates of heaven with a thankful heart. Throughout her blessed life, she kept the praises of God in her heart. A woman of integrity, she lived a honorable life. She was preceded in death by twin sisters; Earnestine and Maxine, her parents, and brother; Rev. Jackson Banks, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories, her Daughter, Yolanda S. Banks, sister,Jacquline Banks Lewis(William), brothers, John L. Banks (Rose), Henry L. Banks(Carolyn), Howard E. Banks, Rev. Alfred E. Banks (Audrey), Rev. Larry M. Banks (Diane), Johnny E. Banks, sisters-in-law Hattie Gamble and Donna Banks. Special nieces whom she helped to raise,Yolanda Oleivie Banks-Lott (Daniel), Shasta Reva' Lewis, Special nephew whom she helped to raise, Jermaine Banks and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. We loved her dearly but God loved her most.
