Vera Mae Williams

On May 25, 1909, Vera Mae Wilson was born to the parents of Hiram and Mary Wilson in Keatchie, Louisiana who are both deceased. Vera departed this life on February 6, 2013. She gradusted from Ketches Sanctified School at age 14. At the age of 18 she married Clinton Willaims. This union produced 2 sons, Charlie and Jethro (deceased). Vera became a widow at the age of 24, thus becoming a single parent, left to raise her sons alone, with the help of her loving parents. Her sons shared fond memories of those charming, quiet, simple days of their growing up together. They attributed their success as men to those days of her loving care. She left Keatchie, Louisiana shortly after the death of her husband and moved to Houston, Texas. She worked for many years and retired from the Houston School System. Vera loved traveling, gardening, cooking, and singing. When she was able, she was active in her church, Wright Grove Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. She leaves with cherished memories, her son Charlie Willaims and his wife Faye Willaims, her grandchildren from Charlie: Charles Williams, Brenda Hunt, Regenia Jones, and Leilani Williams; from Jethro: Mary Louise Lee (deceased). She also leaves to mourn grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
