Mrs. Velera Kuhn Miles ('Sis') was born in Ben Arnold, Texas on February 28, 1922 and passed away on March 20, 2012. She was the daughter of Augusta Aigner Kuhn and Walter T. Kuhn, Sr. She married Clarence C. Miles on June 30, 1940, and moved to Houston, Texas in 1954 where together they founded Circle Saw, Inc. and Circle Saw Builders, Inc. and worked side by side for over 50 years. Velera and Clarence enjoyed extensive travel in their RV. They were members of the Streamline Royal Rovers and Stars of Texas travel clubs, and developed many lifelong friendships through their journeys all over the United States and Canada. Along with the love of travel, Velera was an avid deer hunter.
Velera is survived by her husband of 72 years, Clarence C. Miles of Houston, Texas, her sister Gussie Hebel and her husband William Hebel of Austin, Texas, her sister-n-law Louise Kuhn of Houston as well as many loving neices and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Clarence R. 'Sonny' Kuhn and Walter T. Kuhn, Jr. and her sister Lorine Bryant.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012, at 10:00 am at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 6622 Haskell Street, Houston, Texas 77007. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22, 2012, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary starting at 7:00 pm in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. Burial will follow in the Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35, Austin, Texas 78704.
Velera was able to live at home with her husband until her death. The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Mosely Caregivers Services for their devotion to the Miles' over the last years. Their service has been a true blessing to Velera and her husband.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
