Gertrude “Trudy” Ferguson, loving wife, sister, aunt and loyal friend to many, passed away on Friday, the 14th of June 2024. Trudy was born on the 13th of February 1945, in Chappell Hill, Texas to Wanda and Wallace Cegielski. She grew up in a close-knit family with six siblings on a farm. Following the death of her father, she and her family moved to Houston, Texas to a home in the Heights which served as a gathering place for many special occasions and celebrations. She was a proud graduate of Reagan High School.
In 1993, Trudy married the love of her life, Hershal C. Ferguson, Jr, and they built a life together over 31 years. Hershal and Trudy enjoyed traveling, working on their ranch in Cuero, Texas and relaxing at their home in Colorado. Trudy spent 45 years in the financial industry and was recognized for her exemplary service to her clients while having their best interest at heart.
Trudy will be remembered for her steadfast dedication to her faith, family and friends. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, whether it was baking Christmas cookies, playing games or simply sharing her homegrown tomatoes and basil. Trudy’s kindness, resilience, strength and limitless energy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Trudy is survived by her husband, Hershal; her three sisters, Blanche Kooistra; Mary Ann Lorton; and Valerie Roest; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; stepson Kip and stepdaughter Karen and their families. Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda and Wallace Cegielski and her three brothers, Floyd, Leonard and Johnny Cegielski.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Thursday, the 20th of June, in the parlor and Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at five o’clock in the afternoon.
A funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, the 21st of June in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & sons, 1010 Bering Drive. Immediately following all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
