Troy was a resident of Houston since 1952 and is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of over 56 years, Marion; his daughter, Kirsten and husband, Michael McFarland of Cypress; his sons, Troy, II and wife, Laurie of Houston; Kevin and wife Sheri of Cypress; his granddaughters, Caroline and Sydney McFarland, Hudson and Gillian Meredith, Madison, Adair and Elli Meredith and his great-granddaughter, Kimber Meredith.
Troy was an Eagle Scout and a DeMolay. He was a member of the Greatest Generation, serving in the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater, fighting in the battle of Tarawa, during World War II. Upon the ending of the war, Troy attended Texas A&M College, Texas Christian University and The University of Texas at Austin, joining Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. He was in pharmaceutical sales for more than 30 years, retiring in 1992 at the age of 69.
Family and friends will gather and share memories of this wonderful man’s life during a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services will be held in the chapel at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 2, 2018. Deacon Al Vasek, of St. John Vianney Catholic Church will officiate. A private committal will be at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, also in Houston.
