With heartfelt appreciation,
The Nguyen family
Trieu Quoc Nguyen was born to Khanh Phi Nguyen and Tot Thi Le on June 20, 1978 in Vietnam. They immigrated to America in 1980 and lived in Minnesota for several years before moving to Texas in 1984.
Trieu was christened with the Saint name of Joseph and as soon as he was old enough to make his own decisions (at the ripe age of 9) he insisted on going by “Joey”. He didn’t take to the name like the Saint or anything, but he did find a way to make the name memorable.
He was our 80’s music, fish tank, nacho and Fruit Roll Up lovin’ fool. There was no moderation in his love for anything—most of all, people.
God gave him so many roles, and Joey took to them like a pro. To his parents, he was the perfect son. To his wife, he was the loving husband. To his children, he was the protector. To his siblings, he was the “big little” brother that took care of everything and everyone. To his friends, he was the jokester. Joey had a nickname for everyone and went to great lengths to make people laugh. He fell in love with Mai or “Kingslo” because she laughed at everything he said and did.
Joey departed his earthly home on November 24, 2011. We thank you, Lord, for giving us 33 wonderful years with Joey and completely understand why you are in a hurry to have your favorite angel return home. The memories we were blessed with are engraved in our hearts and will forever be cherished. Joey was truly a Godsend, and we know he will have fun in Heaven.
Joey is survived by: wife Mai, 3 year old son Joseph and baby girl Morgan; parents Khanh Phi Nguyen and Tot Thi Le; brothers Nick and Ted; and sisters Lucy, Trang, Trinh, Truc and Thu.
