Tonya, known to many as “Winnie”, was born on December 24, 1971 to Joe Marvin Robinson and Barbara Ann Clay. She grew up in Cleveland, TX and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1990.
Tonya attended Sam Houston State University where she was a music major and North Harris College, she received an associates degree in childhood development. She worked in child development teaching music while working at Lake Houston YMCA as a director, and at Eastside Middle School (Cleveland), and she ended her career at National Oil Well Varco.
On November 26, 1998, she married Darryl Lindsey, and to this union a daughter, Breanna Sammone Lindsey was born. Tonya had a passion for music, singing, and cooking.
She is survived by her husband Darryl Lindsey of 23 years; Breanna S. Lindsey (daughter); Barbara Clay (mother); Rachelle Robinson (Stepmother); Bonus Parents: James and Flora Clay; Sisters: LaVette Rayford; Sandra Rambally ; LaSonya Clay-Fisher (Frederick); Brothers: Mark Robinson; Alvin Punch, and Gerald “Teco” Punch; Brother and Sister-in-laws: Charlotte Clay-Latin (Cazell) and Sharee Matthews; Angie Matthews (Sterling) and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Joe M. Robinson Sr.; Brothers: Derrick Ellis and Joe Robinson Jr.; Grandparents: Augusta “Jim” Clay and Catherine Clay; Issac “Jack” Robinson and Betty J. Robinson; Father and mother- in-Law: Sterling Matthews and Recie Matthews; Uncle: Charles Clay; Aunt: Rose “Sue” Robinson-Ellis.
