THOMAS WILLIAM PHILLIPS, 58, went home to be with the Lord on January 15, 2022. Tommy was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He was born on August 23, 1963 in Houston, Texas to loving parents, Donald and Carolyn Phillips. Tommy graduated from Northbrook High School in 1982 and then attended college at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. Tommy spent over 30 years working in the Oil & Gas industry as a Drilling Engineer. After receiving specialized training in Aberdeen, Scotland, he began his career in 1991 working on offshore drilling rigs in the North Sea. Over the majority of his career, he worked on numerous land-based rigs with Continental Laboratories, Inc., and especially enjoyed working with Ballard Exploration. Tommy was highly respected in his field and was trusted to manage even the most challenging drilling projects. In his spare time, Tommy was an avid fisherman, seemingly able to catch fish even when they were not biting for anyone else around him. He particularly enjoyed salt water fishing along the Texas Gulf Coast with his beloved family.
Tommy is survived by his loving Parents, Donald & Carolyn Phillips; Sister & Brother-in-law, Cindy & Joe Davis; Niece, Brittany Davis; Nephew, Cody Davis; numerous cousins; close family friends, Patricia Demaret and Deena Zabel, and many treasured friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his Grandparents, James (Buddy) & Johnnie Ruth Phillips; Grandparents, Ira Martin & Annabell Lucas; Great Uncle & Aunt, Allie & Willie Whiddon; and close family friend, Milton Demaret.
The family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 6-8pm at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, and a service celebrating Tommy’s life will be held Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 3:00pm in the Chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, located at 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079, with Pastor Wayne Fancher officiating.
