Longtime HISD teacher and administrator, Tommy G. Hall, 87, died on April 17, 2019. His adoptive parents, F.B. Hall and Jane Terry Hall of San Saba, TX, influenced his interest in education and love of country. He attended Texas A&M, where he divided boundless enthusiasm between marching with the Aggie band and pursuing a B.S. Degree in Education. He was a proud member of Texas A&M Class of 1953 and of the Fighting Texas Aggie Band. Later he proudly served in the USMC.
Carolyn Cecil, Tommy’s loving wife of the past 32 years, points to the positive impact felt by thousands of students throughout his 39-year career with HISD. As the Director of Testing for over 20 years with HISD, he was a pioneer in the area of educational testing and one of four founders of the Annual Texas Assessment Conference.
Tommy dedicated his life to service and leadership in the military, educational administration, church, community, and professional organizations. Tommy’s many friends remember him for his generosity, his sense of humor and thoughtfulness, products from his passionate love of life. His habit of remembering their birthdays earned him the affectionate title of “The Greeting Card King”.
