Tobenna Mgbemena, my nephew, was a breath of pure fresh air that God sent to our family.  The joy his birth brought into the family was indescribable.  He lived a life that was free of the many worries of this world and has earned his crown in heaven.  

I am so grateful for the gift of living this life with Tobenna.  He is now with God in eternal joy. Heaven has gained another wonderful soul.

Your passing was so sudden, so unexpected! My heart is broken!

You were my fourth nephew! I remember when the news of your birth came, we were all ecstatic with joy, and mama, your grandma spoke and gave you your name - “Nwa bu nwanne (Nwabunwanne)”!  And that was what you were all through and still are!

Though the geographical distance was there, I am grateful for the times with you during my visits. You brought a great gift to the family: thank you for teaching us all, the real essence of this life and helping us learn. Your siblings loved you so much, your parents, I.K and Omelebele were amazing - they loved and cared for you from the very moment you arrived to this day. You are no longer physically here with us, but I know you are here, will always be because you are now with God our Father, beholding His Face; and as you see Him, you are as He is, so you are forever looking down towards us and looking out for us.
 
Tobenna, you were special! You were loved and will always be! Till we meet again…❤️

It broke our hearts when we got the news of your sudden passing. You were such a beautiful soul! 
The last time we saw you during our last visit, we marvelled at your commanding presence, yet so gentle. You had the loveliest smile! 

We are tempted to say that you left so soon; but then it occurred to us that the Creator, who gave us the gift of you has the ultimate say, it was His time and so we are grateful for the opportunity of having you. Each person is made for a purpose, you carried yours through, gently, peacefully and with the utmost grace. You have accomplished your work here and our Lord has called you home.  We know you are now eternally enjoying the everlasting joyful, happiest and comforting face of God. Rest on son! You are forever in our hearts!❤️

Tobenna, my sweet dear cousin. Your departure from us was so sudden and such a shock to learn about, but God knows what He’s doing and He designed your destiny. You are special, and you will always reserve a special place in our hearts and minds but now you are watching over us, reminding us you’re always around. Aunty did marvelous in raising you and everything in-between, so admirable. She fostered in you a heart greater than your stature,  as you were always gentle and welcoming when we came over to visit. When I see you, I think of my brother as you two are one and the same, so your absence definitely hits hard. Nonetheless you’re enjoying Heaven right now, probably completing a new routine of yours. Continue smiling for an eternity. God bless!

Tonwa, we were totally blindsided by your call to eternity so soon, but our Lord is supreme and perfect in all his plans. Your beautiful smile is now lighting up the Heavens, and watching over your heartbroken parents, siblings, and loved ones. May the Angels welcome you home in joyful Alleluia.

A loving tribute to Tobenna
Tobenna it seems like it was just yesterday that I laid eyes on you for the first time when you were just 3 years old! You were such a rumbustious child running around the house and getting into everything. I watched you growing up and quietly doing your own thing. You had a way of making us understand whatever it was you wanted, you did not have to say much for those around you to know what you needed and met that need. 

As you grew up, I was amazed at how tall and big you got every time we came to visit from Dallas. I remember watching you one day helping your mom reach for an object above the door that she could not reach. You were always so gentle and unassuming, doing your own thing and looking forward to your daily routines. Your mom was always there to cater to your every need. I recently visited from Dallas. I had brought some meat pies and your mom gave you some. But of course, you kept asking for more. I told you that you had to greet me first before we gave you anymore. You looked at me and finally waved hi at me. It melted my heart!!! 

The news of your death was such a shock to all of us. It was so sudden; it never even crossed my mind that you could be gone so soon. Your mom is devasted, but we all know that you are in heaven dancing and having the best time with God and the angels. You were truly loved, and your mom did not spare anything to care for you. May your memory continue to be a blessing to us all. Jee ije gi nke oma. No more suffering my beloved nephew. God has crowned you in His glory.  Rest In Heaven Toby.

Tobenna was a special angel of a child. He was large in life and left a large void in death. Very close to his loving Mom but now in the bosom of the Lord most high to whom he belongs. May the Lord grant comfort and be an ever-present companion to  Ommy and family during and after this storm of life.

My dear Tobenna, you were a baby when I actually visited with you and your family. Live has its way of throwing some curves at us. I have seen your siblings and have also met them on various occasions. I will  always inquire of you and your thereabouts. You were blessed with a very loving family, a sweetest mother, any human will die for. She gave up everything for you so she could be there for you, and she gave you all that is humanly possible. I was there, I  talked to her, I held her hands, as "my grandmother" based on our culture and she is a woman with  immense love for you and her family and we are indeed blood family. Your mother is a perfect image of a loving mother. Never complain,  soft spoken, slow to anger if any, and always pleasant and gently mannered. I am writing this tribute to you, my  dear Tobenna, I am introducing myself to you and telling you what should have been part of our daily conversations so that you will remember me. Tobenna, l missed you.  This is your auntie who  lives in Arlington, your first auntie you ever met, who held and noted the importance for a first child of a young couple. Tobelemu Chukwu, you are now with your ultimate daddy, your maker, our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ. I am sure you are at peace now. Your journey here has opened our greater awareness, and you have taught us what our existence is and what is actual about the meaning of life and living. I thank you for the teachings and  helping us to learn about our individual  selves, to know our strengths and weaknesses. These are contributions you brought. You lived amongst us for 32 years. Your memories are etched in our hearts and minds. Your parents, your siblings, and the cousins, uncles and aunties, will always remember the love and lessons of life and living you taught us, your smiles and routine will be remembered for quite a while.
