Thomas graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended San Jacinto College with an AAS. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He worked as a boilermaker and welder for the Petrochemical Industry for 50 years. He retired from Albemarte Corporation. He was a devoted member of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Hilda Cantu-Sustaita; his daughter, Hilda Sustaita Singh (T.P Singh); and his son, Tomas Sustaita Jr.; his sister, Guadalupe Miranda, her sister, Dora Castillo and her husband, Jasper; his sister, Juana Belia Castaneda (Lee Castaneda); and his brother, Alfredo Sustaita (Mary Sustaita); his grandson, Thomas Christian (Michelle Sustaita); his granddaughter, Rebekah Elizabeth Sustaita-Singh; his granddaughter, Raquel Maria Sustaita-Singh; his granddaughter, Rose Gabrielle Sustaita-Singh; his great-granddaughter, Zoe Lorraine Sustaita; and his great-grandson, Thomas James Sustaita.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Tomas Sustaita; and his mother, Petra Oliva Sustaita; his brother, Jesse Sustaita; and his sister, Maria Theresa Flores.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A rosary service will occur Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 11011 Hall Rd, Houston, TX 77089. A committal service will occur Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at Grand View Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505.
Serving as pallbearers are Tomas Sustaita Jr., Thomas Christian Sustaita, Alfred Sustaita, Thomas Anthony Sustaita, Kyle Sustaita and T.P Singh.
