He is preceded in death by his brothers J.L. Scardino and Richard (Dickie) Scardino, his sisters Camille Scardino and Margaret Benson, his granddaughter Caitlyn Scardino and loving wife for 65 years, Floreine.
He is survived by children Thomas Scardino Jr. and wife Rebecca, Elizabeth and husband Steve Ridling, Joan and husband Dennis Yanker, Janet and husband Steve Kolaski, Richard Scardino and wife Cheryl.
Grandchildren Brandi Scardino Reese, Zach Scardino and wife Sarah, Luke Yanker, Shane Ridling, Jessica and husband Andrew Garcia, Cody Scardino and wife Amber, Melissa Ridling, Chase Scardino and Chelsea Scardino, along with 8 great grandchildren.
Tom served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and The Holy Name Society. He and Floreine were founding members of St. Augustine Catholic Church which he always considered his home. He was actively involved in St. Augustine’s Youth Group and all of his children’s sports activities. He also spent many years volunteering with Harris County Precinct 2 and with his wife at the Villa de Matel Convent.
Tom’s favorite place on earth was his beach house in Jamaica Beach. The beach house holds the fondest memories for his children, grandchildren and the many extended family and friends who were lucky enough to spend time there.
Visitation with the family on Thursday, February 3, 6-8pm at Earthman Funeral Directors (8303 Katy Frwy). Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 4, at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Catholic Church (5560 Laurel Creek, Houston, TX) with a reception following in the parish hall.
The family would like to extend a special THANK YOU to all the caregivers who gave Tom love and care above and beyond duty. A special thank you to Miriam who stayed with him until the end.
In lieu of flowers, Tom would want you to express your love to those you value. If so desired, donations can be made to the Villa de Matel Convent in his memory (6510 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023).
