Thomas Lee Howard

Tom was born on August 30, 1946 in Amarillo, Texas and grew up in Alvin, Texas where he graduated from Alvin High School. He pursued a degree in mathematics at the University of Houston while working at Monsanto. Following Monsanto, he owned and operated three daycare facilities in the Alvin area. Tom began a long career in financial investment and advising in the early 1970s and was a financial consultant with Raymond James Financial since 2005.

Tom is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara Nielson Howard, and two daughters, Amanda Howard of Houston and Kali Howard of Dallas. He is also survived by cousin, Wilson Howard, who was like a brother, and his wife, Reta, of Amarillo; numerous loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and long-time business partner, Rick Riley.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Howard Davis; his parents, Thomas and Charlotte Howard; and his brother, Mark Howard.

Tom was devoted to his family and was so proud of his daughters. He and Barbara were always happy to welcome family and friends into their home. An avid golfer, Tom played often in tournaments with his dad at Columbia Lakes golf course where the pair was known for winning. He played throughout his life and looked forward to annual outings with his golf buddies. Tom was a member of Ashford United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities including trustee, stewardship and finance committee member, Sunday school teacher and usher. He drove the train at the church’s annual Peppermint Fair for many years.

A visitation is set for Tuesday evening, February 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and the funeral service is set for Wednesday, February 28 at 1 p.m. Both the visitation and the funeral service will be held at Ashford United Methodist Church, 2201 S. Dairy Ashford , Houston, Texas. Reverend Hazel Jackson, pastor of the church, will officiate.
