Thomas Joseph Feehan of Houston, Texas, died November 22, 2015. Mr. Feehan was born in New Orleans on February 12, 1924 to the late Rena Hill Feehan and Hugh A. Feehan, Sr. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University in 1944. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Alpha Chi Sigma, and was elected Outstanding Engineering Alumnus in 1978. Mr. Feehan served with the First Marine Division in the Okinawa Campaign in WWII. He joined Brown & Root, Inc. as a junior engineer in 1947 and served that company for 38 years in increasing positions of responsibility, rising to Vice President in 1968, President and CEO in 1977, and Chairman in 1983. He retired from Brown & Root in 1985. Mr. Feehan was a former director of Brown & Root, Halliburton Company, First City Bank Corp and the Foxboro Company. He served as a director and supporter of numerous professional, civic, and philanthropic organizations. He was an avid bird hunter and golfer for many years. Mr. Feehan was a member of River Oaks Country Club and St. John Vianney Catholic Church. His kindness, generosity, and humor will be missed by us all.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia Arnold Feehan; his brothers, Hugh A. Feehan, Jr., Robert H. Feehan, and Harvey A. Feehan. He is survived by his daughters, Beth Feehan Banks and husband Dr. William S. Banks III, Mary V. Feehan, and Dr. Catherine M. Feehan; grandchildren Hanly Banks Callahan and husband Bill of Austin, and Tom Banks of Los Angeles; great-grandson Bass Walter Callahan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church at one o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. Memorial gifts may be made to Star of Hope Mission or Tulane University School of Science and Engineering. The family expresses our heartfelt thanks to his caregivers: Maria, Glenda, Portia, Marina, Elizabeth, and Amed Hospice.
