Thomas was born January 7, 1945, to George Cook and Ruby Maye Bloomfield in Hull, Texas.
He is the youngest of four children George Elwyn, Byron, and Alice Jo. Alice, or "Little Momma" as he called her, cared for Tom as a sickly infant. Tom grew up around his father's service station and enjoyed the country life in Hull.
In 1967 his sister Alice set him up on a blind date with his future bride, Linda Yvonne Nash. They fell in love and married June 7th, 1968. Tom and Linda, or T.C. and L.C. as they called each other, moved to the north side of Houston. As newlyweds they loved local theater and were involved in many shows at First Street Theater in Humble.
Tom worked his way up from the oilfield to the accounting office for Brown & Root as a faithful employee for over 40 years. In 1972, their first child, Stacie Yvonne Cook was born, followed by twins Gregory Lee Cook and Craig Thomas Cook in 1975.
Tom's volunteerism and work ethic was exceptional. Among many other things, he coached little league baseball, softball, umpired, and served as Equipment Manager for the entire League City Little League program for many years, ensuring players had the equipment they needed. He also taught Sunday School, volunteered with the CCISD FFA Booster club, and volunteered with the League City Citizen's Police Academy where he was serving as their Treasurer when passed.
Tom was an award winning accountant, appearing in Time Magazine in the 1980s. He loved attending extracurricular events for his children and grandchildren, collecting coins, guns, and competing in barbeque cook-offs with family.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruby Maye, siblings George Elwyn, Byron, and Alice Jo. He is survived by his wife, Linda Nash Cook; his three children Stacie Cook Lemley and husband Robert, Craig Thomas Cook and wife Susan, Gregory Lee Cook and wife Taryn; ten grandchildren: Esther Lemley, Jonathan Hughes, Madison Cook, Katelyn Cook, Kendall Cook, Kallie Cook, Molly Force, Luke Force, Courtney Evans, and Robert Lemley III.
